gourami compatability

I would, personally, stick with a dwarf or honey gourami unless you are planning to upgrade the tank, and keep in mind that they don't do well with pairs. You can have 2 females, but 1m/1f is usually asking for trouble as the male will harass the female to mate, sometimes to death. Harems are the way to go with gouramis.

Moonlights get too big at 6" to be housed in a 29g with an angel. IMHO, a 29g is a little too small for an angel anyway, but I know many have done fine with it. Pearl gouramis get to about 4" so are kinda borderline for a 29g. Again, IMHO, I would not do it.

I don't see any compatability issues with those fish, just tank size limitations and possible stocking issues with the harem thing for the gouramis.

Thanks for the advice! So you think maybe a pair of female dwarf gouramis? How would a single male pearl do with the angel? I really like how the pearls look; even the females are stunning.

I'm not sure about a single male, but I had a female pearl with an angel, and they got along just fine. Of course, they were in a bigger tank, with some other fish...

I have found female pearls to be more docile. My male chased everything in sight.

hmm interesting... so either a pair of female dwarf gouramis, or a single female pearl? I'm assuming my tank is too small for a pair of female pearls...
OH and it just occurred to me... how would two or three female honey gouramis do? They're small, so I figured maybe they'd be the better choice, according to the comments so far.

I think you could get away with 2 female pearls, but not 2 males, or even a male and female pair. I'm not sure about honeys or dwarfs. I know my females were very peaceful with each-other. Although gouramis are not a schooling fish, these two followed each other everywhere. I think they are the most beautiful of the gouramis. But that's just me.

You'll have to post pics once you decide, and have the tank stocked!

I have half dollar angels and adult honey gouramis seem to be dissapearing.
I have them in my moms 26 gal. and these are the real honeys I'm talkin' about. Aww man...
