Gourami lovers?

hey, Iam all about the gouramis LOL
I have 6 in my tank all together, 1 two spot, 4 redish blue ones, and 1 with a line going right through the middle, they look like very tropical fish, I like the tentacile thhings that are coming off of them, I would like to get a few more with more diferent colours though.

I refuse to believe an opaline gourami at any size can be suported by a 1g tank. You are being cruel to the fish by keeping it in that small a tank.

I hope that 55g is coming really soon, for your fishes sake.

Glad to hear that you refuse to believe anything. Since the fish is doing incredibly well via regular water changes and a diet of bloodworms, shrimp pellets and flake food I can care less what you refuse to believe. If he gets too large for the one tank she will be transported to another tank. I hope your fears are assuaged as to my animal cruelty.

they're not. emerald cories reach up to 5 inches long, and opaline gouramis can reach 6-8 inches. a 1g tank does not provide enough space for them to move, nor does it provide enough water volume to dilute the nitrate produced by the nitrogen cycle processing their waste. please get your fish a bigger tank.

No kidding dorkfish. My opalines are still under a year old and they are something like 5 inches.

SC13NTIFIC if your fish is not outgrowing that tank it is stunted which means it will die prematurely from the improper development of it's organs during this time of it's life. It would do even better in the 10 gallon until you get your 55.
Take care,
Mary.

you have dwarf honey gouramis? are honeys and dwarfs related? i had put upo a post, but no one responded :(. I have 3 male powder blues in a 120 and found femaile dwarfs at a lfs. i got 6 of them. however, whej i got home and was researching honey gouramis ( to see if i could get a couple of those) i saw that the female honeys had a stripe (the honeys were in the same tank at the lfs). i think i may have just gotten 6 female honeys. Does anyone know if the dwarf will accept them? are they all the same type of gourami?

Well, theres two kinds of honey gouramis.

The honey dwarf gourami: http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=992

Or the actual honey gourami:

Either way, they are both different from the normal dwarf gouramis. The honey dwarf is closely related, but I'm not sure if they can breed together or whatever, and the honey gouramis are Colisa chuna The honey dwarfs are Colisa sota

While neon, flame, and powder blue dwarf gouramis are all Colisa lalia

And yes, SC13NTIFIC the tank you have for your gourami is WAY WAY too small. It really is abusive. 1 gallon is hardly enough for any fish, especially for a gourami and 2 corys.

Sorry, but thats just wrong.

I have 2 pearl gouramis, i'm waiting to name them till they get older and its easier to sex them, but they're my favorite of the fish I have in that tank and I love watching them manuver through all my decorations

Is it possible for neon dwarfs to have the stripe when they are really young. The store said they were female dwarfs. The other dwarfs they had in there were red and orange, maybe a sunset dwarf?
