Gourami question

Do all of these have such nice coloration? meaning, if i ordered some, would they all look like that one in the picture? How well would these guys do with powder blue dwarf gouramis? What about balloon mollies?

Well, some are colored like that, others are colored differently. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Here's some links to compare: link link link That should give you some grounds for comparison. They are anabantids, like bettas and other gouramis. There is always a chance your dwarf may not like them too much.

In my experience with dwarf gouramis....they are very peaceful. I would be more worried about the sparkling gourami be aggressive towards the dwrafs but it really is kind of a crap shoot. Id say if you had a big enough tank...55 gallon or more they should be ok but anything smaller and you might see aggression from the new guy. As far as color is concerned...it should be releviley close to the picture keeping in mind that it may take some time to get that way after he is acclimated and fed well.
 
The sparlking gourami is a dwarf gourami. It's other common name is "Dwarf Croaking Gourami" and I just got mine. They are still young so they aren't all that colorful but they are cute none the less. I heard from another owner who said that you can hear them croaking like a frog sometimes.
 
according to live aquaria it is a "pygmy" gourami. The dwarf Gouramis are differnet
 
I have been doing research on these also because I am going to set up my 29g tank once the 55 is ready to move all the fish to it and I like these fish also. They have several different names. Dwarf Croaking Gourami, Green Croaking Gourami, Pygmy Gourami, Pygmy Purring Gourami. It is all the same fish. I have a Dwarf honey Gourami in the 29 that I am moving into the 55 and I personally would not think it should be a problem to keep them together with other Dwarf Gourami's. The research I have seen says they are fine with other Dwarf Gourami's! Good luck and take some pics so that I can see what they really look like!
 
Pygmy, Dwarf, it's all the same. They all mean "small."

They are all acclimated and in the tank now. They are so cute. They act like little detectives. They are so curious of everything, but at the same time cautious. They have great personalities and they aren't even familiarized yet. I want more! :D

Dwarf gouramis are all closely related and can inter breed (dwarf color variations, and honey gouramies). The sparkling gourami is a pygmy. Dwarf gourami males are very aggresive oward oher male gouramis. Don' let people ell you different, just read other posts about it. Be careful whenever mixing gouramis. he sparkling should be fine but your dwarf may be aggresive toward it.
