I've had zebra danios and Dwarf Gouramis in the same tank before, and they got along fine. Make sure the danios have enough to form a school (7+) and they'll be too busy chasing each other to bother the gouramis.
They shouldn't. Just as a side note, please be careful with dwarf gouramis. I keep receiving comments they are harder to keep alive than before and I have not had much success either. Honey gouramis are your alternatives.
Make sure the barbs and danios are in groups or 6 or more since they're schooling fish even if you decide not to get a dwarf gourami.

I keep 2m/4f cherry barbs with my honey gourami and they are fine...in fact I love them. They are very active and engaged with each other and don't bother anything but my java moss.

Thanks for all the advice (I've had fish for 5-6 years, but I've never had any barbs and I'm glad they'll do ok.
I'm figuring 6-7 cherry barbs.
We already have 5 danios and we'll probably add a few more over time.
(this is a 40 gal)
I was stating the general. I've noticed several forums with similar experiences about this fish. Only luck can allow you to keep them alive for long I guess.:thud:
