Can a pair of dwarf gouramis live with 5 or 6 amano shrimp? Will they be ok or will they try to eat them?

My guess (and that's all it is since I have amanos but no gouramis) is that yes, they could. The shrimp can move fairly quickly and the gourami isn't a carnivore so doesn't have that seek and destroy instinct. My disclaimer though, is that each fish is different and you could have one that might...? You could try it, post the results and save someone else down the line the worry. :)

My gourami doesn't pay any attention to the shrimp in the tank. I do have a couple of rock caves that the shrimp like to hang out in. At feeding time the shrimp swim up and compete with the gourami for first dibs at dinner and the gourami still doesn't look twice at them.

I imagine it would be fine - I have ghost shrimp in with my angel, and he'll eat anything he can chase down and fit into his mouth (perfect livebearer population control, lol). He doesn't bother the shrimp; sometimes he pokes at them, but only to move them off what he considers 'his' piece of food :D
