i used to keep chain pickerel from 2 inches onwards. i found that they are very interesting but incredibly sensitive to water chemistry. tap water that is untreated will kill them in seconds so make sure the water is pretreated before put into the tank. again this is my experience with chain pickerel so yours may be very different.
