beviking - I thought I pointed out the need to consider the lighting available when making a choice of what's best for an individual tank. Sorry if there was some confusion over the post.
Tom Barr will tell you that he's grown Glosso at 2watts/gal. that prospered and stayed horizontal. I've not had that kind of success at that wattage, but I'd give it a shot based on his experience.
I personally have not had much success with micro-swords at lower light, but that's not to say it can't be done.
What will grow for me, might not grow for someone else and visa-versa. I am very patient and have always tried a little bit of everything to see how it reacted for me, before settling in on using it when scaping a tank.
In this case, if unsure about 2 or 3 varieties of plant, I would get a couple plants/plugs of the ones that interested me and just stick them into the substrate and see what works for me. This also give me an idea of how I like the characteristics of each in my tank, under different conditions and lighting. I have a tank that I have used just for this purpose. I stick 'em in in a straight(ugly) row where they will get the same light at the same depth and just wait to see what happens. If I like the results, they stay. If not, they are history.
