even some gravel for aquariums will have an effect on PH . i bought some from a big pet chain and in that tank the PH is .6 higher than the rest of the tanks.
the fizz test is simply putting some vinegar on a select few rocks , if it fizzes it will alter the PH . usually its calcium so pick on some really white rocks .
