What kind of gravel looks better, large or small gravel? I have pea gravel right now, and I'm not happy with the way it looks. I've seen pics of aquariums w/ fine gravel and it looks more uniform and smooth.

I prefer the small size for most tanks, but some habitat style tanks, like fast flowing river bottoms, I prefer the larger size, like for the hillstream loaches.

I prefer fine gravel or sand, myself, both for ease of planting and the comfort of bottom-feeding scavengers.

I like fine gravel (1/16") or sand best. I have a very difficult time finding gravel that is smaller than pea but bigger than sand. My LFS had an unmarked leftover bag of natural gravel but did not know where he got it. Anyone have any idea on how to find something like that?

Not sure, but if you can find CaribSea's Super Naturals "Peace River" gravel, you'd probably like it. It is natural-colored and very fine.
