Gravel vacuum and aquaruim salt

I only have one two inch molly, feed him one flake a day and i do 15% water changes weekly (1.5 gallons) ive never had the tank without atleast one fish in there. So what should i do go get another fish kr add in conditioners?

Well with a WC that small it shouldnt remove too much beneficial bacteria, but with only one fish in there the colony of beneficial bacteria would be rather small, the rest would have died off because there isnt much waste in the tank. So when you go to add fish, do it slowly over a couple weeks. One or two fish at a time.

one thing that jumps out at me is the 'chlorine' test you did. usually the chlorine test is on dip strips, and dip strip tests are horridly inaccurate. go get the API liquid master kit and re-test your tank, to get correct test results.

water changes DO NOT remove the beneficial bacteria. the bacteria do not live in the water, they live on surfaces in the tank and in the filter. this is whey we use such porous material in filters (sponge, etc) because it gives so much surface area for the bacteria to live on.

there is no reason to be rude Entold. one flake, depending on the size of said flake, would be enough food for one fish per day.

when you have issues with ammonia in your tank it is better to feed your fish less, so that the ammonia does not spike further.

Well its like feeding you one french fry, or one chip. It isnt enough regardless of size. How big can "one" flake be? It definitely isnt enough for a fish.

some brands of flake can have some quite large flakes in the container. the NLS flake i have right now has some flakes in it that are at least an inch long/across. that is more than enough food for one 2 inch fish, especially when water parameters are out of wack and you need to keep the ammonia from rising too much.

as long as the OP's fish is healthy and not looking gaunt, then there is no issue with the feeding regime.

looking back on posts by the OP, this tank is 5 months old and fish have been passing away. were all the fish that passed away added to the tank when the tank was first set up 5 months ago? if so, i would say it was the lasting effects of ammonia poisoning that got to them, as ammonia does not always immediately kill the fish, depending on the levels of it in the water.
