29 gal set up for 2 months. 80 watts, 6700K Lights are on for 12 hours.flourite substrate, and dosing 2x a week with excel, and floursh. dosing macro nutrients less frequently, but using the seachem line. micro sword, chain sword amazon sword red flame sword jungle val, java moss some green algae on the wall of no concern. Grayish /whitish looking algae on the tips of the micro sword stringy a couple inches long almost like staghorn but not black, don't really know how to discribe it. am I dosing something too much? or am I dosing something too little? I have no kits to measure NPK, just trying to follow the instructions on the bottles and winging it The colors on all the plants is what it should be I think. and I could probably remove it by hand.

oh yeah, 2 juvi angels 5 cories 6 neons 6 black neons , amano shrimp, a few pond snails.

Ok I removed much of this algae today by hand. It is stiff, I still would like to know what kind it is, and what to do to prevent it from coming back. all the tank info ais in my previous posts in this thread. TIA

Sounds sort of like black brush algae, but too long. I was going to suggest staghorn but you say that that is not it. Can you post a picture or two?

I decreased the photo period, and increased the excel doses and have the upper hand on the algae now. Thank you all for the info and the links. =)

your welcome linda s.
