i just saw a great deal. its a veiled chameleon with 65 gallon cage and lights moss and other stuff for $169. i assume this is a good deal or at least a way to get a complete setup. should i jump on this deal instead of a tokay gecko bcuz these seem like they have less of an attitude about being handled.

If you're looking for an animal that doesn't mind being handled daily then a chameleon is not for you. Also like I mentioned in my other post is that this particular species needs good ventilation and doesn't do well in a glass aquarium. They also stress easily in glass aquariums when they can see their reflection. Never buy a reptile because it was a "great deal" without first doing plenty of research. If this is what you really want start looking at different caresheet for this species.

theres really no particular species of reptile that likes to be handled, its all about the individual animal. you could have a friendly leopard gecko, or alligator. even if you do the research on the chameleon, and give it the most comfortable life ever, it doesnt mean it will like to be handled. if your really interested, id at least check out the animal first. good luck

:) Correct! Reptiles don't enjoy being handled at all no matter how relaxed they look, they just tolerate it.

the cage is actually a screen cage but its volume was measured in gallons. its i think 24in by 24in by 48in but i may be wrong. also if i get him when hes little and work with him every day he wont be hand tame???? or can i get him to be good with people.

if this is how i do decide to go. i may just buy a baby and make the cage myself. ill be reasearching these now.

Chameleons in general don't like to be handled, I know this because I've had a few. They are display animals but if you must hold them, once of twice a week for a few minutes is ok I guess. A tall cage is a must for these guys and when they can be at a height that is eye level with you, they tend to be more relaxed. Let the cham gain your trust by not holding it for the first few weeks after you get it.

ok.....can you run a checklist of things that you beleive are neccesarry to keep a cham. like a checklist so i can see if i will be able to keep one or not.

airflow
full spectrum lighting OR unfiltered sunlight
non-glass cage
mister/way to keep humidity high(obviously, amount that this is necessary depends on your location's relative humidity and the specie of chameleon)

It's been awhile for me since I kept chameleons(Meller's, Pygmy leaf, and Veiled), but they were not too difficult provided they had airflow, non-glass tanks, and good lighting/supplements.

airflow - check
full spectrum lighting OR unfiltered sunlight - check
non-glass cage - check
mister/way to keep humidity high(obviously, amount that this is necessary depends on your location's relative humidity and the specie of chameleon) - may be a lil difficult but ill find a way

oh and by check i dont mean i have it. that just means i will be able to get one. also, where can i find an automatic mister for cheap meaning perferably under 100bucks without making my own.
