i have a perfect idea for a vacuum! not the kind u need a bucket for, but an attachment to your filter! if you have a power filter, take off the bottom tube attachment, and put a long clear tube on the end.(u know what i mean! the kind of tubes regular vacuums use!) then move it along the gravel, and it'll get all the crud that is never moved out for good! so watcha think? im just getting opinions.

I admire you enthusiasm and creativity, but sadly, marineland has beat you to it, lol.

My old H.O.T. mag pro came with a siphon that could be hooked up to the filter. Suction wasn't great, so I never used it. And besides, I wanted to take the crud out of my tank, not just relocate it to my filter and later have to give the whole filter a rinsing, which would kill my beneficial bacteria.

You gotta change the water anyways right? Might as well clean the gravel while you're at it.

I think the best vaccum design has been the python and Lees ultimate gravel vac (basically the same exact thing).

EDIT: I think I misunderstood your post just a bit. Basically you're thinking of an intake extention that will collect deitrus that has accumulated on the gravel? If that's the case, good water movement via powerheads etc... is supposed to take care of that. ;)
