First off I would like to thank everyone for all their hard work making this forum what it is. I just found this a few days ago and I love it, so much terrific information. The only negative is that there is almost too much information to search through to find what your looking for. However, better too much than not enough. Anyway, I was just hoping someone could help. I just recently got a larger tank. And then I got some new fish just the other day. And then today some small seed like things (possibly eggs) showed up on the intake of one of my filters. I am wondering if it is either eggs, or something dangerous to the fish. My two angel fish were picking at them tonight. The tank was just set up within two weeks, and just yesterday I purchased a few more fish (clown loach, pictus catfish, rainbow shark, and a few neons). The tank already had two angels, two loaches, one pictus, one pleco, one dwarf frog, one neon, and two blackfin sharks. Any help would be much appreciated and am happy to be a part of the board. first off did you get any new decorations or live plants ?? it sounds like snail eggs .. they are white at first in kinda a clear sack.. then they turn an amber color .. then wallah snails .. 
.. i wouldnt worry about your angels eating them.. they are tasty lil snacks for them .. and it will help reduce snails in your tank ..

They might have been Angel eggs, depending on the tank (that's what my first guess would be). How big is the tank? How long have you had the Angels? What size tank were they in before? Did you seed this tank from the older one to cycle it?

Lets give all these questions a shot. 1. no new plants, just new fish. did get new decorations two weeks ago when starting the tank, a large piece of driftwood and a 20 pound rock. 2. the tank is 90 gallons. the blackfins and angels were unexpected presents from my dad. 3. yeah the first pictus did eat one neon when they were in the bag (the clerk at the store said he wouldnt bother him, she was wrong) and then another one that night, after that he left them alone i guess he was very hungry the first day). Unfortunately, one of the new neons came up missing so the new one might have eaten one. I tried to make sure he was fed but he still seemed very hungry and wouldnt do more than pick at the food i gave him and then leave it alone. 4. I have had the angels for 3 months, first in a 30 gallon but now in the 90 gallon. I did use the rock from the old tank for the new one as well as bio spira and also hooked up the old filter on the tank as well. I think I got them all thanks for all the responses.

ok, just to caution you, it may not be the pictusz preying on the neons. It could be the Angels too. Are they young? How big are they? Any idea of their age? Tjis could help in deciding whether they were Angel eggs or not. If they were dime to quarter sized when you got them, you may very well have an immature mating pair there and like most immy pairs, they will eat their first few batches of eggs. They may even continue to do so for life. If you want to ensure a successful batch of wigglers, I would separate the eggs back into the 30 gallon after the male fertilizes them next time. You may want to wait and see if they do it on their own though, it's up to you.

yes, petco put the pictus in the same bag with the neons. she told us they never bother the neons. he tried to eat them on the way home and got one of them. it was horrifying the girl obviously had no clue because we asked about there compatibility and when she put them in the same bag i knew it was bad but she assured me they were fine. anyway we had the angels for 4 to 6 months and they were originally about 1.5" - 2" and they are now 3.5". In the last few days prior it did look almost like the two angels were fighting and it does appear that the angels are eating the "eggs". thanks again for the help.
