my tank has a green algae bloom thats been going on for about 1 month now. i've tried everything from increasing the water changes, less feeding, the blanket method, and even that algaecide which i hated to do. the green stuff keeps comming back and im about to tear down the tank and start from scratch.
the tank (60 gal: 1oscar, 1 pleco) has been running for about a year now and i never had this problem before. yes its near the window, but if it was the sun why would it trigger at this moment and not b4? i feed regularly (once every other day) and change the water (30%)every week.
the only thing i havent tried yet is the UV sterillizer and diatom filter, only because im low on cash and cant afford to buy anything right now.
can anyone help me out? and if theres no hope how would i go about taking down the entire tank and making sure i kill off the algae?
