i moved some plants around and now my water is kinda green looking, i also just started using the excel product in my tank. is there any reason why my water looks green? is this a bad thing?
Algae blooms are rarely cured by water changes. They will be lessen but usually come back. It is worth a try to see if some good substrate cleaning and water changes will work but don't be surpried if they don't. A search of the forums will produce many hits on green water or algae blooms.
Moving the plants around probably released ammonium from the substrate and triggered the bloom. You need to kill the algae with a blackout or uv to get rid of it. Always do a waterchange right after any disturbance of your substrate to prevent this.
i did move my plants while i removed about 60% of the water. and right after my water went this green/yellowish color. so this wont fix itself?
will an algea bloom cause problems?
also when i look at it now it looks more yellowish
Take a cup of tank water and put it on a white sheet of paper. If this is green then you will need to kill it using one of the above prescribed methods.
