Green eggs and .... ?

Yes, it was in the case of an big outbreak on a single rock. I have found if you have a single rock with over a dozen bubbles and no other rocks in the tank have it, it is easier to take it out and boil it to kill everything. If you just pull off the bubbles, it almost always grows back as the base of the algae is inside the rock.

I have done this several times to single pieces of rock that show an outbreak. Ya, it kills everything, but the other rocks in your system will make it live again in time, where as if you don't completely rid the rock of the bubble algae, you will be fighting not only on that one rock, but others eventually. To me, it is easier to kill the rock and let it become live again than spend years fighting bubbles. I have seen tanks where it gets out of control and it is scary.

bubble algae always reminds me of the movie gremlins when all the evil ones start being killed and they get all gross and bubbly. When I read ace's comment about it getting out control being scary thats all I could think of, haha -- hopefully someone knows what I'm talking about, lol

Grins: you got me motivated and I picked off 4 bubbles, but Ace is right. The roots are in the rocks so I have to keep an eye on the new growth. When I switch to the new tank they are going to get the "brush" (toothbrush) to try and get at the roots on this one rock. If that doesn't work then I might just chisel the piece.
