Hello everyone,

I'm having a great doubt, my case is this, I am thinking of buying a UV sterilizer but I'm torn on choosing one:

GREEN KILLING MACHINE 9w or V2ECTON MC 200 (8w).

I tried to find a comparison between the two but without success.

Green Killing Machine Say:

Model No.:
AAUV9W
Product Name:
Green Killing Machine - Internal UV Sterilizer (9W)
Description:
Makes fighting green water easier. UV radiation is effective in controlling bacteria, yeast, molds, and other pathogens, in turn controlling algae growth. Water flows in direct contact with the UV lamp, intensifying its function of fighting green water. In addition, it can be hidden behind ornaments in your aquarium, cutting back on tubing around your tank.

- Water pump included
- Simple 1-2-3 installation
- Submersible assembly
- No external pipes or plumbing
- Suction cup mounting - no hardware required
- LED signals need for UV Bulb replacement
- Electrically ChildSafe 12V low voltage design
- Zigzag flow designs for maximum sterilizing time
- Unique Patent Pending Technology
- Filtration pump 200L/Hr (44Ga/Hr) and sponge inclusive
- Treats up to 200L (44Ga) of saltwater & fresh water aquariums

Q&A:
Q: Is this a disposable unit?
A: This is not a disposable unit, UV lamps have a life span of about 6,000 hours. If the LED indicator on the control box is OFF, it means you will have to replace the UV lamp assembly (AA09W-UVC or AA24W-UVC). Just like any other UV sterilizer, the bulb itself is disposable. The difference between AA and other brands is that we replace the lamp together with its housing, so we make sure the seal is 100% and easy for users. Prices for these replacement bulbs are very affordable.

Q: Why is the flow rate so slow?
A: Slow flow rate together with our ZIGZAG flow design (inside the housing) are to maximize sterilizing time.

Q: Can you make the sponge bigger? I have to clean it every 2 days.
A: The UV sterilizer is not an internal filter. You can try to put the UV sterilizer near the outlet of your existing filter, where the water is cleaner. If this doesn’t help, we recommend you to clean your filter media and make sure it filters sufficiently.

V2ECTON MC Say:
• New design, manufactured from impact-proof, polycarbonate translucent.

• Incorporates our unique technology-timer lamp life LITE-SET - an indicator of the life of the tricolor neon light that alerts you when the UV lamp needs to be changed.

lite-set torch

• Supplied complete with a LITE-SET torch to reset the lamp life indicator after changing the UV lamp.

• Inlet and outlet opposed to easy installation and connection to water supply.

• Four types of hose stage for the flexible hose 1 / 2 "to 1 1 / 4", held in place with screw on collars for easy removal when servicing and maintaining the unit.

• UV shield to prevent direct view of the UV lamp.

• Adapters compact, rigid pipe, for connection to rigid pipe 32mm, 40mm or 1 ", are available.

I have a 200 liter aquarium and would like to know which of these two is best.

Thanks.

Give that option, go with the Green Killing Machine.
The most important factor in using UV is the length of time the water is exposed to UV. Most hobbyist UV systems connected to canister filters, are useless and a waste of electricity as the water is flowing too fast for a kill dosage.
The V2ECTON MC falls into that category unless you purchase a slow pump for it.

And, by the way, the line in the one blurb saying Patent Pending Tech. is marketing hype.
UV for treating water is stable well known technology. The company might be trying for a design patent, but they can't patent pulling or pushing water through tubes wrapped or zig zaged around a UV bulb. Most likely they are trying to scare off competitors.

Interestingly, there are some lawyers who go after -rich- companies who abuse the Patent Pending mark. It's against federal law to claim a patent is pending if the patent has not been filed, has been rejected, or is bogus due to it's obviousness or prior art.

Yes you are right, from my conclusion i say:

TMC2ECTON is well outside what is good and is not in sight but who speaks in flowrate site recommended by:

http://www.qualitymarine.com/dynamic/images/842.gif [/ img] is weak, because to have a filter connected to a power greater than uv light bulb will not do almost anything (always can buy a water pump to part with a slow flow), by what I read the flow rate must be slow so the UV is more time in contact with water by improving their sterilizing.

In terms of the Green Killing is an outdoor UV 9w, 24w in there too, easy to assemble already built a pump brings water adjusted to its proper flow 9w = 200l/ho this good enough to bring a light system ZigZag / U for greater contact with water, and in design terms it seems cool. The UV is a unique number along with the plastic is discarded immediately. refills are a more market carotid. This says 6000h handle while the other says no time vid, doing the bills was one cartridge a year.

I think until I see the green better though internal.

Thx Dbosman

vou esperar por mais respostas mas acho que vou para a Green.
