In my local pet store, I saw some barbs labelled "Green Moss Barbs". But I haven't seen any information about this species anywhere on the net. Has anyone else heard of them? Is it possible that they're just a colour variation of a regular tiger barb?

I believe they are the same as green tiger barbs (which are a variation of the tiger barb).

They are a colour variant (likely locale-telated) on the green tiger barb, which is in itself simply a very melanistic form of Puntius tetrazona, the common tiger barb.
