A friend gave me a green severum she didn't want, pretty little thing, only an inch and a half maybe so very tiny still and seems very timid. I tried putting it in with my convict who has to live alone since he is VERY antisocial and I just don't think thats gonna work out. His sole goal in life is to make any other living creature totally miserable from what i've seen and this has been no exception. He is a total brute but i love him. anyway, would this severum be alright in a docile community tank, nothing really but tetras, that type of thing? I know hes gonna need a large tank eventually.

yes the severum would do good in a community tank they are probably one of the most mild mannered cichlids you could get. just make sure the tank is large enough atleast a 55 gal. and definitly DO NOT put the severum in with the convict. the convict would destory him. just watch out for smaller fish bc they could start disappering when the severum starts getting bigger. if kept in good conditions and stress free they can get up to 8 or 9inches. enjoy him/her they are great fish with lots of personality i just love my sevy.

I agree, I think they'll be fine together. I've had the green and golden severums. I think the golden ones tend to get larger then the greens, like fish chic said, the greens will get about 9 inches. If you have neons in the tank, they'll most likely be eaten though. Larger fish love eating neons for some reason lol. When it gets larger though, it may get a bit more aggressive to the tetras though, always a possibility. Good luck!!

thanks you all..I moved him to the community tank and he is soooo much happier, everyone is getting along fine.
