So the severum that I purchased roughly a month and a half ago is doing amazing. She's grown alot surprisingly and shows some amazing color. Those beautiful red eyes. She's georgous <3. Just a few days ago she laid some eggs on a vertical piece of slate I have in the tank. There is no male in the tank. The other occupants are a pleco and a firemouth. Soo she hung out with the eggs for a few days and than ate them. Will she lay eggs occasionally? Even without a male? I hope this means she's happy. She can be verry skittish sometimes. Most of the time she is fine. But sometimes I come into the room and she darts down quickly into the gravel. She nicked her head pretyy good. I'm going to keep up with the water changes and I'm sure she'll heal up.

To sum it up...I love Cichlids. It's my first cichlid tank! =D

hi Logy, i have a pair of green severums and sometimes she lays without him too! its very stange, is there any other male cichids in the tank?

my fire mouth did that constantly, with out a male. they do it, especially when you change water and they get into the egg laying mood. my fire mouth laid every time LOL! Now she has her sights on my parrot fish, she and him both like each other

Quick update here. I FINALLY got some pictures of my green severum and firemouth. Certainly not my best photography. Anyhoo..enjoy!

I have a green severum also. I find when it feeds the stripes become very pronounced...is yours like that as well?

Ya, my severum's stripes will be pronounced whenever I'm feeding. Maybe it's just tricks with the light but I find that her color seems to lighten considerabely too when she's feeding. =D
