I was in a pet store the other day and saw a dragon goby. They look really cool to me and I want to get one.

Are they compatible with my green terror and convict?

They were listed as a bottom fish, but are they bottom feeders?

Thanks for the help everyone has given me so far, I really appreciate it.

^ I agree. Plus they need to be kept with peaceful fish. A Green Terror and a Convict will destroy it.

I've seen Dragon Gobies successfully acclimated to freshwater, but that doesn't mean you should do it. They are too lazy for cichlids, survival would be very unlikely. Even if it managed to hide, the stress level would disrupt the acclimation process and it would just waste away until dead. Don't do it.

Okay, I'm glad I asked. Thanks. Would it be okay to have one n a planted tank w/ rams and guppies?

I would not keep a violet goby in freshwater. They are brackish fish. They will enter full FW for short periods of time, but spend most of their time in estuarine, brackish water.

I think brackish tanks would be a very interesting challenge. There area a lot of cool brackish fish, the dragon goby being one of them.

Also don't let their big mouth fool you, most Dragon Gobies I've dealt with required small live food to thrive (mosquito larvae, live adult brine shrimp, etc.). I've seen a few that would pick at frozen brine shrimp and bloodworms, but I've never seen one that did well on flakes, pellets, etc. They are neat fish, but are rather unforgiving if you don't meet their preferred habitat and food requirements.
