Greenish water

What do you do when your tank water turns greenish?

AlgaeFix is the best thing I have found for greenwater algae. It is only safe for plants and fish, not inverts like shrimp.

Algae bloom. Do 50% water change, gravel vac. Clean filter. If filter is removing algae, there should be a ton of it in sponges and/or filter media. Clean that out too. Somewhere there is either too much light or too much nutrient or both. Look for sources.

Water changes, reduce lighting, sometimes a blackout is needed.

Will check, thanks, the only thing that I was doing different is I got a pleco and was feeding it zucchine chunks.

There may be some extra nutrients from the zucchini.

When feeding natural foods always net any access after feeding is done.

ive NEVER been a fan of chemicals..my thing is if i cant get rid of it myself i dont want to throw some possibly harmful chemical into my tank...but thats just me! As most of these guys have said, do a water changes frequently

I usually do too, but AlgaeFix is one of VERY few exceptions. It is safe for fish. It is safe for plants. And since greenwater algae can be quite a challenge to control, it is a good option. Otherwise as soon as you slack on the water changes again it is back. If you kill it off it won't come back near as easily.
