Yeah, I'm having a problem with my grindal worm culture. It has mold. I'm not over feeding, but I did make it too wet initially. I'm using coconut coir as the soil medium. I know I can go dirt-less but I figured I'd try this medium first.

To try to get rid of the mold, I've been putting the culture under a fan for at least a full day and it dried out the culture pretty well but the mold remains. I also tried sprinkling some finely ground oatmeal on it but it didn't desiccate it like I'd hoped.

How do I get rid of the mold? Would spraying it with a weak hydrogen peroxide solution harm the worms?

My guess would be that you should start a 2nd culture and toss this one. Have you tried manually removing the moldy parts? Yeah, you will lose some worms doing this, but losing some is better than losing all to mold. And i cant swear to it, but i would def think H2o2 would kill the worms...

It'd be too hard to remove, it's fine threads and spread thinly, not uniform patches or pieces.

I'll start a new culture.
