hi i just got back from my LFS with two new Blue Grouime. and there swiming around and around each other. and rubbing up against each other. are they mating or fighting?

It's spelt gourami.

Are you positive that there is one male and one female? Gourami's usually don't mate in community tanks, so it may just be a dominance thing. If they were to mate, the male would make a bubblenest on the surface of the water, and if there is not bubblenest, there will not be any breeding. So, if you have one male and one female, its probably just the male being dominant.

my tank is a 29 gallon with swords, pleco, ranbow shark, black skrit tatra, tiger barb, and dino. ell sorry for spelling anything wrong. oh and angels fish.

You are mixing fish that should not be mixed together. You need to put your rainbow shark, tiger barb, and angel fish into their own tank. You also need to add at least 4 more tiger barbs. They are a schooling fish and will not behave properly if you don't have a school of them. You need about 29-30G tank for just those fish. Your Swords, black skirt tetra and danio can stay together in a tank. You also need to get four more danios as they are schooling fish as well. Size depends on how many swords you have.
As for the pleco. Odds are its a common pleco that could get up to 24 inches long! If he is a common pleco, he needs to go back to the store unless you have at mini um, a 55G tank to put him in. IMO, 55 is still a bit too small though. I wouldn't go less than 75G but most people say 55G.
As for your gouramis, what kind did you get? If you aren't sure, take a photo. Odds are you have two males and hopefully they are dwarfs. If they are, they can go in with your community fish (swords, danios, tetras, ect)

Well, thats a full tank. How many angels? Having 2 Gouramis and Angels might cause some problems in that size of tank. I just had to remove my Angel from my tank b/c she was going after my zebra danios. She already ate all of my shrimp ;o(. She is getting her own tank this weekend where no fish in there will be big enough to fit in her mouth. I probably would not have gotten the Gouramis personally. Your tank seemed full to me. Hopefully you have lots of plants.

You have a dino eel in there??? That can NOT stay. They grow huge- like at last 2 ft. They are an ancient group of fish known as bichirs (Polypteridae) with special needs. I think they're very cool, but I know I could never house one. Honestly, I don't know why a store would sell such a thing to a kid.

The only guy I know who keeps them is Toirtis (of this forum) and he has qualifications up the wazoo (zoologist, president of aquarist societies). Those are another one of those fish that I think shouldn't be owned by the private person, without qualfications (like works in education, research, or other fish professional). I would put them in the same class as sharks and rays - large, predatory, to be loved from afar. Sure, you can keep those in a tank and it will survive, but they are majestic creatures that deserve to live in natural conditions.
