Ground cover...

I'm looking for a good ground cover plant for my tank. Something that won't take over my whole tank and will only grow between 1"-2" in height. If anyone has a link to a good on-line shop that'd be great, I doubt I'd be able to find anything around here.

Or a good on-line plant guide would be cool to, I'll find someplace to order it.

Thanks a bunch!

I didn't like that version of marsilea, it was ok, but not great...
I just got a different variety that I love, its Marsiliea minutia
and looks like this:

vs quadrifolia (clover) or augustifolia which looks like this:

just my opinion though...

Ya know, I got 4 portions of "quadrofilia" from the same place you linked those pix from, and in reality I got the super-slow-growing minutia. I guess I lucked out, I think. I can't say for sure what "quad" looks like IRL, but "min" looks great... once it grows. I've spent the better part of a year growing a square foot of "min" from those 4 portions and a couple of cuttings from a friend.

This, of course, means that if any one wants to send me some clippings of "quad," I'd be more than happy to arrange that.

Thanks

Thanks for the tips guys,

Those look real nice, and I'll tell ya super slow growing is ok by me.. less I have to worry about later on. Now if I can just keep the Green terror from ripping it up as soon as I plant it. :mad2

TM, I just got a single portion of the minutia, it came with a lot of dirt/mud in a big lumped ball *LOL* I buried a large chunk of the ball and its thrown out tiny runners with itty bitty shoots on them about 1" out so far (after 3 weeks w/ co2 + fert + 55w PC light 55k bulb on a 15gallon long tank) and another strand that is about 3" long is just moving along slowly as well...

Did you find your growth was linear and that the runner would just get longer and longer? or did you find it branched much? I haven't seen any branching and am wondering if its just going to go straight across my tank and never "fill in"

also if you have any of this you'd ever like to get rid of then keep me in mind:)

Heh. It's all been linear. No branching at all. I'm running 40W, 55G/32G actual, no co2 and weekly ferts. It's slowly growing, but it's growing, no doubt. Once my strands got long enough, I pulled and clipped them to about 5-8 leaves each and replanted them.

If I *ever* have enough, I'll let you know. :)
