a regular 20 (not a long, so i guess "high"?) should be fine for the eleven lab fry right?

(if they turn out to be hybrids, i'll give them to the turtle-owning friend)

but this is a general question. that should hold a dozen mbuna fry until they're big enough to be in the main tank? i've never had a spawning of more than five before, and they were in a 12, or in a community 50.

oh, and how should i decorate it? i meant to put this in "rift lake cichlids". just a bare sandy bottom (bare glass is too ugly for me) with some crushed coral)

It should be okay for a while, but once they hit an inch to 1 1/2" I would move them to a larger tank.

a light sandy bottom should be fine and if you are having problems with low ph than you could add the crushed coral if ph is fine than its your call, do some type of filtration like a hydor sponge filter or box filter will be enough for fry, i have a 20gal high fully decorated with gravel tons of rock and live plants for a fry tank i currently have 6 half inch julidochromis ornatus, 3 half to an inch cylindricus fry and 4 one inch albino bristelnose pleco babies, filtration is an UGF, a HOB filter and a hydor sponge filter excessive filtration is my motto, good luck buddy..
