I got them from my LFS who ordered them through a place called chungs. they are out of Mass. The discus are about the size of a half dollar so they are young. I turned the lights off in the tank and the light that is in the room is the only light they are getting now. I turned the tank temp up some more and added salt. Ill keep them in the QT tank for 4 weeks. I hope they pull through!

i think you should have done more research on discus before you bought any more of them. i've seen the pictures of your fish in the other thread and honestly i just don't think they look very healthy overall. any chance you could return the ones you have and start over?
even young discus should look well-fed (thick-bodied), round in shape, and have small eyes. the ones you got seem almost skinny, very pointy/egg-shaped, and have big eyes. i might say that maybe it's just the angle of the pictures or something, but since you are already having problems with disease and death you might want to start over. taking a loss on returning the fish to the store will still leave you with more $$ than having them all die. then you can look for a better supplier. i don't think this is your fault from bad care, just lack of knowledge about what to look for combined with poor quality fish.

Sorry for your loss. wataugachicken has a very valid point. Research & preparation will save you time, money & heartache in the longrun. Check w/ local clubs for Discus breeders in your area or maybe even order from a reputable dealer. They are very sensitive, expensive, beautiful fish. They're not for everyone. The ones I already have I can not return. I asked them and the only way they would take them back is if they are dead. The other one that is in the QT tank on the other hand I can return because they sold me a sick fish. I did return the sick fish and the dead one and I ordered a book called "Discus Health: Selection, Care, Diet, Diseases & Treatments for Discus, Angelfish and Other Cichlids" I figured that if I cant return the others I can read more about them. With the info I get from the book and the info I get from the nice people on this site I can give the discus a good long life. as for the bump on the discus tail it looks smaller today. I think there was something in the 30 gallons water and Im glad I moved them into the bigger tank.

hang in there..I suspect you may have just gotten sick fish..one of the issues with LFS is they usually get 'culls' and not the best stock
do what you can..you are stepping in the right direction by getting reading material. one thing about a larger tank..they are more stable.
keep up on the water changes..keep the tank temp on the warm side..I keep my discus tank at 84.if the discus are young..feed them at least 3 times per day.. discus are foragers..they constanly search for food.. their physiology is such that they have a relatively large body for their stomach capacity..
keep up on water changes..for young discus I suggest at least 3 30-40% water changes weekly ..you can drop that back a bit when adults. I usualy do 2 40-50% changes on the adult tanks.
vary their diet a bit..mine eat flake, sinking pellets, brine shrimp, bloodworms and algae wafers..they steal them from the bn
be patient and flexible you'll do just fine.
in the end you will be rewarded with great fish.

Thanks for the info on the books. The Discus love there new tank and they are eating like a horse! Right now I feed them flake and bloodworms. Im looking into more types of food. I have to order them online because the LFS do not have them in stock.
