Once I was coming home from my girlfriend's place. It was like 1 AM. I was driving and suddenly, my radio turned off. I started chacking it and then the headlights went off too. I pulled over and the engine halted. I was sitting when I saw white smoke coming out the hood.
Thanx God I always carry my one Fire Stinguisher, so I was able to control the fire in a matter of seconds. I had to call a tow car.
Next morning, I found the culprit was an exposed that had lost his insulation. I changed the cable, did some minor insulation and went again on the road.

Girl, thank goodness you are alright!! That's such a scary thing, I've seen cars on fire and it seems like something so far out of control!!! I carry a fire extinguisher, too, just in case.
I'm sure your folks have kept up the new-to-be car, but just make someone give it a go-over since hot weather's heading in. And, like CoverUp says, get some insurance!!! Best luck!!
BTW, those photos are amazing--at least in didn't burn slam up!!!

Wow...that car is TOAST !!!
Yeah, what CoverMe said....."Get that insurance" ! I'm glad you weren't hurt and that you were in a place where you could get help fast !!
My family was on a trip out west back in 79. My dad had rented this large motorhome for the voyage and somewhere in Alabama we're driving down the road and smoke starts pouring into the cab !!! My dad pulls over in the rest area we JUST HAPPENED to be coming up on and used the "inhouse" fire extinguisher that handily came with the vehicle.
We had to sit in that rest area for about 6 hours.....before the traveling motorhome repairman had it all up and running for us...lol....talk about being BORED !!! (I was 16 at the time) It's a darn good thing they had a very large ROCKET at that stop for us to look at....lol....because the thrill of plucking up grassblades had about used up it's entertainment value by about the 4th hour...

Yea I have a buddy that has a sports car he had just gotten and it went up in flames. Stunk for him.
