guppies and bettas

I think that I have had 5 bettas over the years and haven't had a problem with guppies. My two male mollies however got small chunks out of their tailfins once when they were first all together but they healed and no problems now.

Good thing I read this thread. I was about to stock my 10 gal with a betta and two male guppies. What fish should I get with my betta then? I am thinking platies as they don't grow too big yet are very colourful. Is this a good idea? Will the platies go after the betta and vice versa?

I had platy in with betta for awhile, no problem. Currently I have 11 whiteclouds in with my betta. I like the schooling effect of the whiteclouds, like ducks swimming in a row :)
while my betta does his own thing. Platy male are smaller (females a bit bigger) but definitely ok with betta, although they are greedy and betta might have trouble competing for food.

My betta is in a 10 gallon with zebra danios, harlequin rasboras, an otocinclus, and soon pygmy corys. Everyone gets along well. I have heard white clouds get along well, too. As was previously mentioned, there are several species of fish that get along well with Bettas... no long finned fish, no fish related to bettas, no fin nippers (for example, tiger barbs). It's good to do research before adding fish to tanks so that fish don't get nipped or die unnecessarily.

So far my betta and zebra danios are getting along together in a 20-gallon long tank. However, it's only been a couple of weeks. I started wtih 4 zebras and that worked out, so I got 4 more. I'm not sure how many I'll end up with.

I have two guppies in with a male betta and they are fine. The betta just pretty much ignores everybody in the tank.

would a female betta be okay with two dwarf gouramies in a 10g? I know they're both labyrinth fish but aren't females less agressive? Didn't mean to hijack your post but it's kind of the same subject.

depends on the betta

some bettas are just aggressive and some are mor mellow. i have a male betta in my 29 gal. w/2 guppies and 3 platies. i've had them like this for about 3 days now and their all fine. the betta chases them for about 3 sec away from his favorite plant  but other than that they seem to be getting alot great! my tank does have a alot of real and fake plants so you might want to take that into consideration in terms of breaking line of sight between the territorial fish in the tank (i.g the betta)

guppies will be fine and of corse they will take chunks out of guppies tales have u seen those things they're like minytitanics!
