i was gone over the weekend (i didnt want to leave with my first bach of baby guppies coming soon) but i had to. well i got home last night to see the 2 females totally empty inside and no babies. DARN IT. well i checked later that night and they were pregnet again. how long does it usually take for them to give birth? i want to raise these ones.

yah it is really weird and i was surprised but it might have been over one day. i came home and they were empty then less than an hour later they were gravid again

I do not think your fish gave birth at that time. I am sure they will in the next few weeks though. Normally from a birthing like that, you should have atleast 1 or 2 but not all would be eaten in a breeder tank. Do you have any live plants such as hornwort in there?
Can't guppy females carry 5 batches of fry at the same time? One of my females gave birth 2 days ago and her gravid spot is already huge. I believe their gestation period is about 30 days if conditions are good. Females can abort if something is wrong. I think younger guppies may give birth to smaller batches, too, although I could be mistaken. My first group was only 3 but now it's up to about 20 each time in a community tank. Tricksterpup is right that plants will help your numbers as the fry will have a place to hide. Don't be discouraged, soon there will more fry than than you'll know what to do with

Yep, the older the female the larger the batches. A young female may only have 10 fry while a older one may have 40 plus.
see the fact that they were all eaten confused me. the aquarium has fake plants but is basically full of them where it takes me a while to find the adults. so what do you think happened because it was a week since i saw them gravid and then i found them empty sunday then gravid again. i am really confused?
