Hello,
It's been ten years and I'm tired of raising guppies. I have a thirty gallon tank and would like to have angels that grow large and I can actually see them from across the room. Now I don't want to just sacrifice the guppies. Can they be in there at the same time while the angels are small? How many angels will be comfortable full size in this tank?

P.S. I just love this forum. I call you guys my "Fishy Friends". My husband thinks that is so silly. :)

a 30 gallon long won't really be tall enough for angels. they really need the height of a 29 gallon tank.

you can keep guppies with angels while the angels are small, but as the angels grow the male guppies will be eaten. females, which are significantly larger than males, will be fine.

eh, I guess I can agree with JM to an extent. I have a 75 gallon with guppy in the tank as well as Angels. The Angels tend to leave the guppies alone as they are at different swimming levels and the tank is pretty well planted. However, I would say that if the guppies are on the small end, you may be in for some trouble. With the angels and guppies together, I will say, I have yet to see any fry at all and I put this to the Angels being good hunters. As far the tank, height is of the utmost importance in Angel tanks. The need enough room to swim comfortably in regards to their upper and lower fins. They can get quite tall and need that space.

Ok, thanks everyone for the info. My son has goldfish in his 10 gallon tank. What if I change my thirty gallon to goldfish. Of course I'd have to get rid of all the guppies. Right now I have 9 with one catfish.

I'm looking for fish that will grow to a pretty good size and just be entertaining. I've had oscars and pacus in the past.

IMO depending on what type Goldfish normally grow fairly large and Neither the 30 and much less then 10 are appropriate for goldfish. If you put goldfish in a search here you can probably get a little more information on them.
