I already read in another thread that someone told you not to keep the guppies in a 5 gallon tank

do you happen to read the threads you make?

Do you want to breed them??

It's always nice to come to help-sites such as this, and meet 'friendly' people like yourself.

If he was already informed to not put guppies and platies in a 5 gallon...then no amount of your 'friendly reminding' is required.

All he did was ask which fish you prefer: Guppies...or Platies.

RyJ, I beg to differ, Some might hope that if they do enough "friendly reminding" people might be more likely to keep fish that they "can" keep" and not just what they "want" to keep!! But like hurdle said, maybe they won't be in a 5g tank...

But he has already asked this many times and has broken some rules while doing so. If all you want to do is make people mad by not giving them your tank size etc.. then please dont post anything. Thanks.

How people treat their fish is their perogative. People gave him advice on the '5 gallon' thing before. If he is so determined to fill a 5 gallon with guppies or platies...he'll likely do it, regardless of what a few strangers tell him over the internet.

Anyway, the only thing he asked was: Guppies or Platies.
Which one do you like better?

Personally, I prefer Platies. There we go...his question has been answered.

Reasons to keep each? Well, honestly speaking here, I have never kept platies. the reason being, I don't like how they look. I have kept guppies. The reason I kept them is because I had a small tank and really thought they looked colorful and cool. The best reason to keep any fish is because you like it and want to keep it. Once you find a desireable fish, do the research, see what it needs to live hapily, determine if you merely want to keep it or breed it, then decide if you can afford to give it what it needs. If so, congratulations, you found a fish for the best reason; you will love it.
