Ok my guppies are pregnent. Do i need a male for them to have babies? I have had guppie babies but i allways had a male in the tank. I took the males out because they allways chased them. do i add a male or 2?

No if they are pregnant now they can continue to have babies monthy, for like 2-6 months without out a male in the tank. The female stores the sperm for later use. I have guppies and they multiply like crazy, I say go without males until they are done have babies. Also once the babies are about 4 weeks, try to seprate the males of else your babies will start having babies.

you don't have to put the males back in. once the guppy is pregnant, shes pregnant... like a human... except when a guppies babies come out... they eat them, the dirty buggers. you'll need to get a separation net or lots of plants for the babies to hide in and even then you'll lose the stupid ones

guppies will breed and breed and breed so seperate out the males and females if you want that to stop.

the way a female gets pregnant is males swim past and squirt semen at them... i think anyways. thats what i was told. as soon as the boy babies get their colours, remove them because they will mate with their sisters and mothers and aunties and any other female present (sometimes even platies)

good luck!!!

ps. whats your male to female ratio? you should have at least a couple of females to every male... or a single sex tank. the males harass the poor females otherwise, whos life consists of pregnancy, labour, baby eating, pregnancy, labour, baby eating, etc etc

This is very true, I started with 5 guppies 2males 3females, and now i have like 30, and I have only have this 10g for like 2months. Floating plants really saves a lot of them.
try this stuff Its like that easter basket grass.
