HOw do the scales of the fish look? If it is dropsy he should devolpe push out scales that make him look like a pine cone (if viewing from above). If this happens there is little you can do for him. However, if he does not look like a pine cone it is unlikely to be dropsy.
nope he does not look like a pine cone, but since my Oto was also in an incident with the mystery snail the salt may be ok for him, I'm using 1/2 the recomended amount on the container, which is less than most people recomend for treatment. So it will probably have no effect, but I do weekly water changes anyways so
He was looking a little better this mornignbut still hanging out at the top of the water. He is also still eating..
it is even possible that he was eatting too much, or that he needs a bit of a dietary change to keep him from being constipated, but i'm not an expert on guppy diet.
I mostly feed them Tetra-min lake food and live blood worms, if they are in good shape.
His tail is kind of ratty and rounded on the sides, not puffy and purkey like my younger males (his offspring) He may just be old as well I don't know how old he was when purchased. How long do guppys usualy live I hear only 2-3 years?
If you think they might be constipated, try fasting your fish for a day, then giving them some pea innards. Frozen will work, just thaw and goosh the skins off.
