if you took out the fry before they can breed and only keep those 2 females i would say around 700 fry!

if you would let the fry breed i would say around the millions!!!!!!! lol

if I stock a 10 gallon tank with 4 guppies, 2 male and 2 female, potentially how many guppies could I have at the end of 1 year?

Way more than are going to fit in a 10 gallon :)

I can't give you a specific number, but you'll want to have somewhere to get rid of them (sell or give away, or feed to a bigger fish), before you get them. The females will often come from the store already pregnant, and may have babies in just a few days.

Most definitely more than 64! At least a couple hundred.

Geez, I thought I was going to have to take a math quiz here!

Easy answer...a gazillion if you leave them all in there!

I started with a trio of guppies when I started this habit. In 1 year I had 60 tanks and 10 different strains. If you ask 1 of these guppy guys they will say you need a minnimum of 10 tanks per strain. So at 2 females with 20-30 fry per month pulled well over 64.

I actually had a friend who did this, never removed fry and they actually self regulated the population. He never had more than about 25-30 at a time.

lol, one of my females once had around 50 in one drop! Plus I'm still getting fry 3-4 months after I separated the males and females.

The 2-2 ratio is a bit hard on the females too. Ideally it should be 3 females for every male.

I Get about 200guppies every 2 months.. which get givin to my other fish or friends as feeders.. Sometimes we pick the most colourful ones a pair of females or males.. and use them for little gift tanks etc.. BTW a 5g can host many fry but once your first month or two they need to upgrade.
