Guppys, COLOR CHANGES?!

One of my guppy fry started growing and having color. At first, a mix of blue, green, and orange. Then a black dot on his tail, and a black dot on his side.

The black dots were cute, untill they grew 5times the size and filled that area black.

That was 2days ago.

Looked at him today during feeding(like always).
Checked up on the tank about 3hours later...then notice the black dots were all gone!..

Is this normal?!

Perfectly normal. Very young males who are still developing their colours can change and vary enormously over a very short space of time. Dont worry

How old do you think they are when they start showing colors?

Ha, how strange. I have 1 male guppy that I raised from a fry, I think he started showing his colours at around 2 months maybe. This is an estimate of course.

My son has guppy fry only three weeks old and some are already showing black tails and dorsal fins. Have no idea what is "normal"!

How quickly guppies take on their colours depends widely on their pigmentation from birth. Some of my black guppies show black pigment from being first born but usually the fry start to develop their first colour from about 2-3 weeks old.

I meant he started showing real, full bodied colour at that time.
