I had 3 female guppy's and one male. Two of the females died within a week of purchase and the other one is not moving that often, not eating and looks like she might go soon too. The male is fine, just being guppyish and swimming all over. I dont think it can be a water quality issue as I have a ram in there too, and she's happy as larry. I've checked over and over for signs of disease and I cant see anything. Any suggestions?

That's nothing unusual about guppies chris.
I had about 4-5 female guppies die on me the same way. I guess there's nothing you can do about it.
Some last for real long, and some dont.

Oh well, I was looking forward to seeing them having kids. I'll just have to get 3 more females to keep the male interested in something.

I had the same problem, turned out to be internal parasites. I used a treatment of Prazipro and they have been healthy and horney since. It takes about three days to work, don't expect miracles right away. How often do you do water changes?

Chris, try feeding your fish some crushed Garlic, this will clear out any internal parasites that your fish may have.
also before adding any more females, if you can, place them in a QT tank for about a few weeks until they are ready to add to your main tank. You don't want to give your Ram anything he doesnt need.
But I would feed them either the food treated with garlic or crushed garlic while in QT to clear up any internal parasites.

Sorry I havent replied to this thread sooner. The last guppy died about 3 weeks ago, about 48 hours after starting to feed crushed garlic. I stopped feeding garlic to the rest of the fish, and kept looking out for symptoms of internal parasites. None of the other fish were showing the symptoms so I decided to get 3 more female guppys about 4 days ago.

I have no quarantine tank, or the space for one, so when introducing new fish to the tank I just have to watch them for a while in the lfs and then take the risk of introducing them to my tank. My new females are now showing the same signs as the previous ones, but all the other fish are still fine. I am going to try feeding crushed garlic again, but do I have to worry about collecting the evacuated parasites or will they just die? I do 30% water changes every 3 or 4 days and vacuum the substrate every 7 days.

Nah, there is no need to worry after they are passed through. I would just do your regular water changes Tank Maintenance. Keep feeding the garlic and your fish should be fine. I just recently picked up a new med that is supposed to help with bacterial infections and wasting in fish; its called Anti-Bacteria Medicated fish food by Jungle.

I lost one of the new batch of females just after I started feeding them garlic, but the other 2 are fine and seem quite happy!

Thanks for the help everyone.

Chris.
