So i just got some fancy tailed guppies they were a gift from my mom. and i have a few questions.

First. i saw them swimming around and nibbling on some algae i have in my tank? is this normal or are my fish just freaks.

second i already have some platy in my tank will they breed with each other? if so i need to get rid of the platys/i like the guppies better

Guppies tend to go around picking at algae all the time from what i've seen.

ok thanks i just wasn't sure if that was a normal thing for guppies to do....my platy are being silly...they are trying to mock the guppies algae eating but they don't find algae very yummy i guess...they just spit it back out...luckily cleaning day it tomorrow

ok just wanted to make sure it was ok seeing as I've never kept guppies before

There are guppy x molly mixes as with swordtail x platy crossbreeds but I do not believe that guppies and platies will successfully breed as they are of a different genus...they may try though ;)
