Guppys eat algae?/Are they ok with platy

I have noticed that my guppies seem to "sample" just about everything and are fond of algae wafers. There is always a big crowd feeding on it until it's gone.

Congrats on the new guppies, Winterose! And I see you are in Ct., too.

Yeah, my guppies nibble on plants and algae all day long. And they descend on algae wafers like they haven't eaten in weeks.

Thanks for the help guys... doing a head count on them is like near impossible. i got 8 and if I'm lucky i can only ever count 6-7 at a time most times its more like 4. i love them...how do you tell males from females?

female will have a spot right by their last set of fins on the bottom. The spot is actually their ovaries and it will turn black as coal when they're born. Google gravid spot on guppy for a pic.

Also, the males tend to be more colorful, and with longer tails, than the females.

ok so i somehow managed to get all female guppies except 1?????? wow thats weird i just looked for spots and saw them on all but one......and they are all really colorful...

most of my females have color on their fins howver they are solid colors and don't have the patterns.

Thats actually all the males you need, anything over 1male to 3 females and the females will die of sexual harrasment.
