I just received some plants that have quite a bit of hair algae entangled in them. I was told that spot treatments of 3% H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) would take care of the algae. I wanted to know if this would be dangerous to my shrimp and snails.

Also, idk if this should be posted here or in the planted forum.

Not wanting to introduce hair algae to my tanks, I haven't actually placed any of the plants in the tanks yet. I hope to be able to treat the plants before putting them into the tanks. If I do so, how long will it take for the plants to become invert-safe?

In my experience H2O2 has no effect on inverts in the kind of dose you would use in an aquarium. It breaks down quite quickly in the presence of light- just a few minutes. There is no residue.
