Hagen AquaClear 20 Aquarium Power Filter?

I've heard great things about about AC filters and a lot of people on here use them. I personally use the Penguin Bio-Wheels for HOB filters. What size tank will you be using this on?

I have the 20 on my most recent tank. Mine's a little noisy, but that's because I sucked sand into the impeller and moved the blades when cleaning it out. Runs great, with adjustable flow control and a reasonable size filter box. I would use this brand again, no problem. I agree you need to go one size up though - mine is in a 10g tank and at lowest flow setting.

The only thing I don't like about the aquaclear filters is that they can be a pain to get restarted. Usually it is as simple as filling the filter with water, turning the intake tube to the low flow, then turn it back to full once it starts going. Sometimes though you need to poke the impeller with something to get it turning.

I use an AC 200 (old version of AC 50) in a 20 GAL and it's good. I mean it just lowers like 6" in the tank but it's a good filter. I also use instead of the activated carbon I use a bag of chemi pure elite and since there are 3 slots in it I also use a ammonia remover bag from aquaclear. I've used Penguin 175 (older version of Penguin 200) and that bio-wheel was just getting on my nerves because it always got stuck. In my opinion you should go with the Hagen. Any other question you're welcome to ask me.
