I just bought Peat Plates by Hagen. This is to officially tell you that they suck, badly. If i had known they would be such a pain to incorporate into an already running tank I would have just gone with the granules (which I now learned I can still put into a HOB filter with the custom media bags).
Aside from the fact that you kick up almost all the dirt and debris possible in your tank trying to fit them, they need A LOT of gravel (or sand in my case) to hold them down. They also take up valuable planting depth in the substrate.
They also make a bloody mess!!! Peat fibres are everywhere. Had to strain out large ones with the net and hope the filter does the rest.
DONT BUY THEM
