So about a week ago I made a post about some green hair algea issues I was having. It seemed like every response people posted was that my co2(DIY) was causing it because it wasn't consistent. So I trusted everyone and I turned off the co2. I also was told to cut down the amount of light each day and I did that as well. The hair algea is still growing strong. Any new suggestions?

I had some hair algae in my tank too. I got rid of it by taking an oral syringe and squirting it with some Flourish Excel. Only took a few days for it to be gone.

1. it takes time.

2. "i add fertilizers" is insufficient.

3. there are still unanswered questions in your other thread... nobody can tell you what the problem is if you don't want to tell us.

4. i gave you a better response than you're admitting... http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=219287

5. are your plants getting all their nutrients? nobody knows! we just know you "add fertilizers". a well rounded diet is important for plants as well as animals. anything lacking from nutrients to light to proper cleaning/care of your tank and equipment and bam... you have algae.

6. feed and care for your plants correctly and your problem will be most likely solved. there is no permanent miracle cure in a bottle... excel, peroxide or otherwise. if you don't care for your plants correctly you'll be doing it all over again eventually.

what's your levels AND dosing schedule of:

nitrates
potassium
magnesium
phosphorous/phosphates
calcium
iron
micros

what's your water change schedule?

do you gravel vac and how when you change your water?

what's your light spectrum?

what's your gh?

how often do you clean your filters and how?

there's a lot more to it than "i have "x", what's the solution?"... not only that but nobody here has proof that your problem is what you say it is. as far as i know you don't either. a couple pictures would help for positive identification. we saw the first one which looked like an early form of something or a mix of a couple things. seeing some updated photos might help.

you are making this hard on yourself and impossible to find the correct solution without guessing. the questions are there for your benefit. answer them and you'll get some decent solutions. don't answer them and it's a guessing game... your loss, not ours.

good luck!
