Hair or parasites?

The Royal Gramma, the lone fish survivor, now has what appears to be hair under it's jaw, and one on it's eye.

Is this natural Royal Gramma hair styling, or a parasite?

The inverts and corals have been doing great in our aquarium...fishes on the other hand, all have died but this guy.

help if you can. thanks AC.
 
What it sounds like to me to mak. Do you have a hospital tank? That will really dictate your course of treatment.

yep they will but, I would probably give it at least a month to make sure they and all their larvae have died off. The best treatments for flukes "imo only" are copper based meds and you don' t want to use those in your tank.
 
catch him napping if you can that will make your life much easier go out and get an el cheapo 10 or 20 gallon. It will save you money heart ache and a lot of wasted effort. Really sorry to hear about this.

Me too. Thanks max. He naps in holes and crevices in the rocks....I'll try luring him with flakes and then kung-fu net him. It's worked before on damsels. :D

have you used a medication before? Which one worked for you? RxP won't kill this parasite will it?
 
I don't know much about the kent stuff so I'll have to defer to gbolton on that one. I've used a couple for ich, marine velvet and an out break of flukes that nearly drove me out of the hobby.
the one I used on the flukes it's been a while was copper based but, I don't remember exaclty what it was. I'd go to foster and smiths they have some really good stuff prices and advise and would be a lot better recomending a medication than me.
The plauge stage lasted about the first six months on my first s.w. tank many moons ago. I found that by useing a hospital tank and keeping my water quality good I didn't have any more issues other than compatability territory issues. I was thinking abobut your set up and I really think the pebbles you have across the bottom of you tank might be causing a lot of your problem. While I don't think for a second that it caused your fluke problem it's a pretty safe bet that it might be the culprit in some rater serious current/future water quality issues. Please keep us in the loop bro and I wish you the very best! I had a pretty hard time when I first started out to.

im also battleing a disease, and i wish i would have done it right the first time by setting up a hospital tank. i would remove all the rock work till you can get him out(i know it sounds like a pain in the..., but well worth it) hope you win the battle
