but don't use 40w if you don't have co2 yet. if you do, your hairgrass will just grow algae on it.
this can't be a serious question.So should i wait till i make the CO2 system then get the 40 watts of light?
Ok. Thanks for the info everyone!Everyone says that hairgrass needs a nutrient rich soil (which sure doesn't hurt) but I grow mine in sand and it does great (see sig). It does take at least 3 wpg to get it started and it grows slow at first so be patient. Once it establishes itself lighting can be reduced. I don't like the all in one ferts sold by LFS so it is better to buy dry ferts and mix your own according to your water parameters. C02 is a definate asset and yes add it before or at the same time as you upgrade your lights.
