I recently picked up a male wrestling halfbeak and it's like having a baby gar!. I was wondering if anyone has any personal experiences with these awesome little fish or breeding advice, Thanks!

I kept halfbeaks for awhile. They are really cool, willingly take prepared food, dry and frozen and are livebarers.

I've already had experience with their act of bumping against the glass so I taped computer paper on the sides and this has stopped him in his tracks.

Half beaks are awesome fish. A little over a year ago I got four from LFS and three died almost as soon as I walk through my door.
The fourth was with me up until three months ago. They are jumpers and good ones at that.
They prefer a brackish set up but don't put them with anything is to excitable because they will pester the fish who is very chill.

I have kept Celebes and wrestling 1/2 beaks in the recent past (5 years). Never had them breed for me. Now I have a group of Borneo Tribal Red Line 1/2 beaks, and they have yet to breed, also. They are similar in size to the wrestlings. I am not actively trying to breed them. Mine are in my oddball community tank. I keep frogbit on the top of the tank, and like the above posters say, a good cover. Mine eat just about anything that hits the water. Here's a quik pic. Good luck.
