Halp! Just tested my water.

Recently i pulled out my UGF, changed to canister filters (still used the old media from the hob) added pressurized co2, and added some more gravel in my planted 55g. I just did a test and my Nitrite is .25pmm and my Nitrate is off the charts, 0 ammo. Help please is this normal for doing what i did? thanks!

if you are worried you can do a water change.

Do a large water change to get the nitrite and nitrate under control and keep a close eye on the parameters for the next week (or more if problems persist).

Sounds like a mini-cycle. Do a water change asap and your bacteria colony should adjust soon.

I did a 10g water change when i got home from work, but i just did a 20g water change, i hope that helps. Thanks for the help!

Nitrates are pretty safe but you will end up water changing them away. There is no big rush but change water till you get them back to 10 or 20. I would be doing 50% changes as often as it is comfortable.

did you just pull out the powerhead? Or, did you remove the entire thing including the tray under the gravel? you need to remove the tray from under the gravel if you did not do it.

if that is the case it sounds like a mini cycle and you'll be fine with the recommended water changes above my post

ya i pulled the whole thing out. The water Changes havnt affected the Nitrate =/. more water changes i guess?

Yep. You still must be above your maximium reading on your test kit. 50% every time you have a moment...
