Im gonna be doing plants soon.

Im looking into a DIY Co2 setup, but, i got a few questions.

Sorry if this been asked millions of time, but i woud like to know some updated options.

Whats the best DIY Co2 write up out there?

And, all the plant chemicals ect they sell, is that even needed if i dont plan on growing show quality plants, but just to keep them alive and healthy?

And im running 2 24wat bulbs for a 30gal. Good enough?

Also, is sand substrate good? Or should i keep the plants in their pots. (Most of the plants im getting are potted)

Thanks

depending on what you want to grow in the tank it could be fine or it might not. if you just want some low light plants then thats fine.

sands a great substrate. i would plant them in the sand.

oh yea.... i wasnt happy doing diy co2. for me the pressurized co2 tanks where i can set it up and forget about it for a year was so much better. so much more control but bigger up front cost.

All i plan on doing is some Amazon swords, and some wenitiis(sp).

Anything special i need for them plants?

With that size tank maybe you might want to liquid dose co2?
Flourish excel works great.

1.6WPG is ok for some plants. Research the type of plants you want or CAN have and go from there.
Anubias are a good choice for the lighting but I don't know about wenitiis, (don't know what this is).

I have the Nutrafin one. Controlling how much CO2 is added is controled by where you place the outlet. 3 options for that.

It is a cheap an easy option. For a heavily planted tank a would go to the deepest setting.

Not as good as a pressurized setup but easy and cheap.

do any of you know about these systems? do they work well, can they be regulated? I have a heavily planted 10 gallon w/ 2 wpg, do I even need it?

I have a DIY CO2 and can not produce enough CO2 for my heavily planted tank. I'm switching to a tank setup.
