i have 2 tanks with the same problem. there is this green algae on the glass and ornaments that really hard to get off. i don't mind having algae, it is just really hard to get off the glass. is there an easy way to remove it.

tank 1: 10 gallons, 5 goldfish, natural light (not direct)
tank 2: 30 gallons, 6 zebra danios, 2 red fire dwarf gouramis, 2 chinese algae eaters, 1 crab flourescent light( 30 watts)

The easiest ways to reduce algae are reducing the amount of light hitting the tank and reducing the food that goes into the tank by feeding less and being more stringent about removing uneaten food.

And yes, your goldfish need alot more room. GOldies grow quite large and are messy, waste producing fish. They need more like 20 to 30 gallons PER FISH, no matter the variety or the current size.

Yes, the goldfish either need a LARGE outdoor pond (anything preformed is too small to over winter them), a 100g or larger indoor pond (a preformed liner would work OK here) or atleast a 55g tank (and even that's being conservitive, 100g is really what you should have)

Not to mention there is NO species of freshwater crab that I know of wich are full freshwater and commonly available in the hobby - your crab needs brackish water and a land area that it can get to. If you think I'm wrong, give me a species ID on the crab.

Get a razor blade scraper to get the algae off the glass.

because pet stores never lie or misinform people......
